Sanguine Estate
Heathcote Shiraz

Established in1997, Sanguine Estate has quickly forged a reputation for its intensely fruit driven and wonderfully complex Shiraz. Located 90 Min north of Melbourne, this historic town of Victoria is famous for its full bodied yet smooth Shiraz wines; uniquely deep in color and flavor. The secret is the 510 million year old Cambrian earth, found along and ancient land fault running through Heathcote. The soil is red like the label.

The 2004 Shiraz displays a mouth filling palate with opulent fruit flavors of blackberry, dark plum and liquorice followed by a spicy and savory finish. Excellent concentration and length.

Only ½ to 2 tons per acre. 3 different clones of Shiraz are used and fermented in small 2.5 ton batches to maximize color and flavor extraction. To add further complexity the winemaker includes a portion of whole bunches to each ferment and relies solely on indigenous yeast. Aged for 12 months in charred French oak barrels.
